Okay my knitwear got a tattoo. My something new this year was a pair of Rosemaling Mitts by Dottie Angel AKA Tiff Fussell from the new book from Loop. The book was a birthday if from one of my favorite people and I have been wanting to cast these on for what seems like years( totally melodramatic these came out less than 6 months ago).

If I dint have any responsabilities I think these are 24 hour mitts.

This project was fun. These knit up extremely quick and checked so many things on my “I want to try it” list:

  • Embroidery on knitting
  • New techniques ( a picot crochet bind off)
  • Using stash all stash yarn
  • In my Ravelry queue
  • A break from some of my existing WIPs
  • A quick knit

I mean what is not to like? The last time I was on Bainbridge Island I stopped off at a sewing store  and bought this traceable paper with an adhesive that would dissolve in water. It helped make a new technique less scary as I didn’t feel comfortable  just “eyeballing” it or basting the pattern on.

A carefully traced pattern let me embroider the pattern more easily

I am still having some issues with the french knots that are supposed to be in the center of the flower ( I know how to do them, but they aren’t working) but I  decided to declare them done as I think they are in the “good enough” category until I decide to fix them. I am pretty happy with how they turned out, and I have something new to wear for January 2016.
